AMS-02 antiprotons and dark matter: Trimmed hints and robust bounds

چکیده
Based on 4 yr AMS-02 antiproton data, we present bounds the dark matter (DM) annihilation cross section vs. mass for some representative final state channels. We use recent cosmic-ray propagation models, a realistic treatment of experimental and theoretical errors, an updated calculation input spectra based release PYTHIA code. find that reported hints DM signal are statistically insignificant; adequate errors is crucial credible conclusions. Antiproton among most stringent ones, probing thermal up to TeV scale. The dependence upon models halo profile also quantified. A preliminary estimate reaches similar conclusions when applied 7 years dataset, but suggests extra caution as possible future claims excesses.

AMS-02 antiprotons, at last! Secondary astrophysical component and immediate implications for Dark Matter
Using the updated proton and helium fluxes just released by the Ams-02 experiment we reevaluate the secondary astrophysical antiproton to proton ratio and its uncertainties, and compare it with the ratio preliminarly reported by Ams-02. We find no unambiguous evidence for a significant excess with respect to expectations. Yet, some preference for a flatter energy dependence of the diffusion coe...
متن کاملAntiprotons from dark matter annihilation through light mediators and a possible excess in AMS-02 p̄/p data
We show that in the scenario where dark matter (DM) particles annihilate through light mediators, the energy spectra of the final state cosmic-ray particles depend strongly on the mediator mass. For final state antiprotons, a spectrum with relatively narrow peak occurs when the mediator mass is comparable to the p̄p production threshold. Of interest, the latest AMS-02 data on the p̄/p flux ratio ...
متن کاملIndirect Search for Dark Matter with Ams in Positrons, Gamma and Antiprotons Channels
The Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS), to be installed on the International Space Station, will provide data on cosmic radiations in a large energy range. The main physics goals in the astroparticle domain are the antimatter and the dark matter searches. Dark matter should be composed of non baryonic weakly interacting massive particles, a good candidate being the lightest SUSY particle in R-pa...
متن کاملIndirect Searches for Dark Matter with AMS-02
AMS-02 is a multi-purpose spectrometer with superconducting magnet, and is designed for 3 years of data taking aboard the International Space Station. Its high performance regarding particle identification and energy measurement will allow performing indirect searches for dark matter (DM) in different channels simultaneously: gamma rays, positrons and antiprotons. AMS-02 sensitivity to those si...

The Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS), whose final version AMS-02 is to be installed on the International Space Station (ISS) for at least 3 years, is a detector designed to measure charged cosmic ray spectra with energies up to the TeV region and with high energy photon detection capability up to a few hundred GeV, using state-of-the art particle identification techniques. It is equipped with ...
